Land Rover Freelander 2 Gets Engine Upgrade

Recently, we reported on the Freelander 2 for 2011 - which has received an upgrade of both interior and exterior design. There is also news that the 2011 Land Rover Freelander 2 will receive an upgrade in engine power and performance.

The small SUV will be distributed throughout Europe and eventually the United States with a new 2.2-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder engine. This powerplant is capable of generating either 148 horsepower (110 kW), or upwards of 187 horsepower (140 kW). Freelander 2 will produce 310 lb-ft of torque, up from the previous years' models.

Fuel economy on the new Land Rover is bumped up by nine percent to 45.6 mpg (UK average, of course) combined. The engine may be mated to either a manual transmission, which will include stop/start, or an automatic gearbox.

If you cannot recall those design upgrades, exterior changes on the car include redesigned front bumpers, that features a new look to the metal elements, a boxier shape at the bottom, and squared off insets for fog lamps.

The vehicle's color will be available in either Baltic Blue, Fuji White, or Kosrae Green - three new shades for the facelift.

Pricing for the 2011 Land Rover Freelander 2 will range from $28,600 to $46,900.
