Audi Racing took home the checkered flag this past weekend during one of motor sports top events - the 24 Hours of Le-Mans. This classic endurance race, which setting was at the Circuit de la Sarthe, Le Mans, France, was the 78th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Team Audi Sports' R15 TDI took home the first, second and third place standings, beating out the favored Peugeot racing team. Winners Mike Rockenfeller, Romain Dumas and Timo Bernhard celebrated their victory before cameras and a cheering crowed, astonished that the entire Audi team took home gold almost simultaneously.
Each driver was performing in a TDI enhanced vehicle; the TDI engine is a powerful V10 engine variant. TDI versions of other Audi vehicles, which as the A8, is available to car buyers at your local dealers including Fred Lavery Company in Birmingham, MI.
All four of the challenging Peugeot race cars, again heavily favored by racing analysts, broke down and never even made it to the finish line.
Intense accident and superior driving skills appeared constantly during the 397 lap performance. On the heels of this victory, Audi is already working a successor to the R15 TDI - the R18.
For now, you can't pick up an Audi R15 TDI racer at an Audi dealership (unfortunately) but you can head over and test drive some of the other TDI enhanced models now at Fred Lavery Company - 34602 Woodward Avenue, Birmingham, MI 48009.
