Land Rover is about to revamp their long running and successful Range Rover model. Two of the biggest changes to the popular SUV - an upgraded diesel engine and an 8-speed automatic tranny.
The 3.6 liter V8 diesel engine previously fitted to the Range Rover is very well regarded but the arrival of a heavily revamped 3.0-liter version of the Land Rover's V6 diesel. Capacity is increased to 4.4 liters now, and the engine now provides 313 horsepower.
The forthcoming Range Rover's new 8 speed automatic transmission comes from German transmission specialists ZF. The new engine and gearbox combination allows the diesel Range Rover to reach 130 mph and 0 to 60 mph in 7.5 seconds.
But what about us US-gasoline powered Land Rover drivers? The 5.0 liter gas engine for North America will also be upgraded by ZF.
Both gas and diesel variants get an improved version of Land Rover's impressive Terrain Response, which makes it easier for less experienced drivers to set the Range Rover's highly capable 4x4 system.
The biggest news for Range Rover will be the Autobiography Black 40th Anniversary Edition coming out to celebrate vehicle's 40th year of production. There will be a limited edition of these vehicles sold at dealership lots.
