Audi Sound Q7 Concept

Audi is taking their Q7 and working on it internally, creating a very interesting concept in sound. No, they aren't making adjustments under the hood or beneath the car's already solid chassis. They are working on the vehicle's internal sound system.
Testing out 62 speakers in the large model Audi, the German auto maker's hope is to reach optimal sound enjoyment while driving a full size SUV. These speakers, and the grants to run such an experiment, come from audio specialists at Bang & Olufsen, Bose and the Fraunhofer Institute.
According to the Audi press release, "The speakers include five tweeters, of which three are placed at the base of the windshield, 52 mid-range drivers placed in a 360-degree configuration around the cabin, four door-mounted woofers, and one large, roughly 12-inch subwoofer in the boot."
What Audi hopes for in the end is perfect sound no matter where you are in the vehicle. They modeled this system after the world renowned Linden Lichtspiele cinema in Germany.
How fresh is this Audi audio concept? "There are no corresponding audio media available on the market because there are no playback devices, either," says Audi infotainment engineer Peter Gleim. "A few film studios are already producing films with the method."
The Audi Sound Concept in the all new Q7 should be available as an optional package next year.
For now, you can check out both the interior and exterior of the great Audi models available at Fred Lavery Company - 34602 Woodward Avenue, Birmingham, MI 48009.
