We've been patiently awaiting official specs for the 2011 Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 - and now following the New York International Auto Show, we got em.
Available soon at Fred Lavery Company in Birmingham, MI, the updated GT3 RS comes with a 4.0-liter (hence the name) version of Porsche's flat-six engine, with forged pistons, titanium connecting rods, and the crankshaft found in GT3 RSR racer.
The engine produces 500 horsepower at a 8250 rpm's. That's 125 horses per liter, with 339 pound-feet of torque. Not bad at all.
The RS 4.0 is offered with a six-speed manual transmission, with gear ratios specifically designed for track work. Porsche says the car can hit 60 mph in 3.8 seconds, 124 mph in 12.0 seconds, with a maximum speed of 193 mph.
Here's the bad news: only 600 editions of the car will be produced. The 2011 Porsche GT3 RS 4.0 goes on sale in the US later this year, with an asking price of $185,950 including destination.
