The Royal Wedding of Prince William and Catherine "Kate" Middleton may be long over, but the legacy of their gifts will carry on for years to come. And when you are getting ready to inherit a whole entire kingdom, giving a few vehicles away wouldn't hurt (especially when you need tax write-offs. Does royalty even claim taxes?)
William and Kate have decided to give away their Mountain Rescue Team Land Rover, which was one of many lavish presents given to them at their Royal Wedding earlier this year. The ?45,000 ($65,000 USD) Land Rover is a unique model, and not one you'd easily be able to test drive at Fred LaveryCompany in Birmingham, MI.
"The vehicle will be greatly appreciated," said Keith Montgomery, secretary of Glossop Mountain Rescue Team, who accepted the Land Rover. "Our present vehicle only has a shelf life of about six months and we were embarking on a major fundraising exercise to raise more than ?45,000 to replace it."1
Don't think whoever donated the car originally feels it is going to be a thoughtless regift. The happy couple asked citizens which charities they'd like to see royal gifts go to long before the ceremony even took place.
A wedding gift fund set up by the Royal Family allowed the public to give gifts (in the form of monies) of their own to 26 chosen charities, which ended up raising over a combined Million dollars.
