Porsche 911 Ranks High on J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality Study

We're sure you'll agree with us when we say that the Porsche 911 is arguably one of the best cars in the world. In fact, it's earned several awards to back up this claim. In 2004, Sports Car International named it one of the Top Sports Cars of the 1960s, the Carrerra RS one of the Top Sports Cars of the 1970s, and the 911 Carrera one of the Top Sports Cars of the 1980s. On Automobile Magazine's list of "100 Coolest Cars," the 911 took the number two spot. And in 2005, it was a World Car of the Year nominee.
But experts aren't the only people pleased with the Porsche 911. In fact, for a few years, the 911 has ranked pretty high on J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality Study. This year, the 911 ranked highest in the premium sports car category, the Porsche Panamera took one of the top three spots in the Large Premium Car category, and the Porsche brand took third place overall.
Here's how it works: J.D. Power and Associates looks at consumer complaints for the first 90 days after they buy a new vehicle. Per 100 vehicles, the industry average was 102 complaints. The lowest scoring brand had 151 complaints per 100 new cars. Porsche, however, had only 75 problems per 100 cars - top-scoring Lexus had just 73.
J.D Power Senior Analyst Dave Sargent says of the 911, "It's probably the best vehicle we've ever seen in the entire study. It's that good."1
If that's not enough to convince you of the lure of the Porsche 911 or any of the other powerful vehicles in the new Porsche lineup, then we have one more suggestion for you: take one for a test drive.
