Land Rover Teams Up with Chery to Grow in China

Boosting sales in the ever-growing Chinese car market is paramount to many automakers, Land Rover included. Recently, the British car manufacturer scored a big partnership to help establish its line of vehicles in China, pairing up with the Chinese-based Chery Automobile Company, forming a joint venture to increase the availability of the luxury terrain vehicles in the world's most populous nation.
Looking to boost its presence in China for quite some time now, Land Rover believes the move will give them a leg up on the competition, with the ability to sell buyers on the luxury brand drivers in the Detroit area know and love. Under the new agreement, Land Rover will manufacture both new Land Rover models, as well as engines in collaboration with Chery. The two will also create a research and development lab to advance vehicle technology, and craft and sell products that are unique to the Chinese marketplace.
As with any venture in China, the terms cannot become 100 percent official until the government approves the deal. Until then, we'll just have to sit and think about the exciting prospect of expanding Land Rover into Asia.
